Pieter Bruegel is my Hero

Here are a couple drawings from my sketchbook.  I did them a while back, but they kicked off the drawing style I've been using for a few years now.  The figures in the first image were taken from The Bee Keepers and the Nest Thief, which was done in 1565.  The figures in the second image were lifted from Bruegel's 1560 painting, The Triumph of Death.

Pirate Store Portraits

I was commissioned by the lovely people at the Pirate Store in San Francisco to do portraits of current and former employees.   The text on the images is in Latin.  I'll translate it below each portrait.

"Stand aside peasants, I am on Imperial business!"

"I did call; maybe your answering machine is broken."

"You have a piece of spinach between your teeth."

"I can't hear you, I have a banana in my ear."

Him:  "To err is human."  Her:  "Shit happens."

 "Don't piss into the wind."

 "Mrow."

"I'll have a light beer please."

"I sometimes feel the urge to conquer large parts of Europe."

On Erika's Fridge

My friend asked me to make her some pretty pictures.  Here is what I  came up with:
A Ganguro-gal.  Isn't she beautiful?!  She's using her pinky and ring finger  to flash you a victory sign.

 Manatees are her favorite animals.

 A classic drunken photo-bomb.

 A minor internet meme celebrity.

I got this one from a retro hot dog advertisement.  It was weird and creepy.  So I drew it for my friend!
